Brief Description of Duties / Minimum Requirements: This position is located in Austin, Texas and relocation assistance is not available. Approximately 20% travel is expected.
The successful Project Manager candidate will be responsible for the commercial and technical success of solutions based automation projects primarily in the Shared Project Services Group. Individual must demonstrate ability in the areas of:
- Financial accountability and management for large capital projects
- Risk assessment and mitigation
- Managing customer relationships and expectations
- Assisting in the development and implementation of account and project strategies
- Providing industry analysis to support project pursuit
- Project execution methodology planning and scheduling
Responsibilities include financial management and reporting, project planning, estimating, scheduling, and procurement of Emerson and 3rd party product on projects (including DCS applications, PLC applications, field instruments, power distribution and field installation) in any Industrial environment. The individual should be capable of working with a minimum of supervision and providing management oversight and supervision for engineers, technicians, and 3rd party contractors working at multiple locations. The ability to interface with customers and representatives in a business, technical and sales environment is required. Candidate must demonstrate the leadership required to be successful executing process automation industry projects.
Requirements also include:
- Manage multi-division requirement of single customer
- Includes adherence to schedule; expediting where needed; interface with division order / project management personnel as required to meet requirements of customer schedule
- Project execution planning
- Estimating, scheduling, reporting, risk assessment and mitigation
- Management of customer relationships and expectations
- Manage several cross-functional matrix projects through the full project life cycle process
- Maintain multi-table databases in Access
Work with Industry Centers' operation directors and project management in the development of project execution plans, development of proposed project schedules, estimates, etc.
- Participate in bid reviews and ensure processes are followed and approvals granted.
- Interface with Business Development in the screening of proposal requests
- Support Business Development in preparation of proposals
The individual must be capable of working with minimum supervision and of supervising engineers, technicians, and 3rd party contractors working at multiple locations.
Individual should have a general knowledge of valve and instrument transmitter data sheets along with DCS and network hardware, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience interfacing with customers and sales representatives in a business and technical environment, including making customer visits and presentations. Individual should have experience operating in a P&L environment. Other desired skills/knowledge: Excel, Word, Access, Microsoft Project and/or Clarity. Also, experience working in an ISO approved facility would be beneficial.
Candidate must be versatile, self-motivated and a self-starter. The selected individual should have a minimum of 8 years of corporate engineering, general plant, or EPC contractor experience, including past Project Management experience. Project Management Professional Certification preferred. Background should include project experience with process control systems, preferably DeltaV. Individual should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience operating in a P&L environment. Candidate must possess the skills to successfully execute/coordinate projects in a multi-divisional corporate organization. Must have process automation and field instrument experience and be familiar with the various hardware/ software products and services employed for projects in the process control industry.
Minimum Education Requirements: B.S. plus 14 years of related work experience or B.S. in Engineering or Computer Science plus 8 years of related work experience or M.S. in Engineering or Computer Science plus 6 years of related work experience.
