Brief Description of Duties / Minimum Requirements: This position is located in Austin, Texas, and relocation assistance is available. Approximately 20% travel is anticipated. A Bachelors degree in addition to 8-10 years of related work experience is required.
As the Contracts Negotiator for the Process Systems and Solutions division of Emerson Process Management, you will play a key role within a small team for North America, which is part of a larger global team. As the division Contracts Negotiator, you will have high visibility to and regular interaction with executive management. This role offers growth opportunities in many areas, including specialization of expertise within an industry or project type. Your contributions will have a direct impact on business results through effective customer and multidivisional negotiations.
The Contracts Negotiator will demonstrate experience to support handling the following key areas of responsibility:
- Review customer contracts and terms & conditions
- Assist in negotiation to arrive at acceptable agreements implementing contracts policies
- Negotiate Purchasing/Alliance Agreements with key customers
- Work with legal team to prepare and review Non-Disclosure/Confidentiality Agreements (incoming, outgoing and mutual)
- Assist Purchasing with specific Subcontract Agreements
- Advise Management on general and specific contracts/commercial issues, rights and obligations, and provide interpretation of terms and conditions
- Work with division management, legal team and others to develop and implement division Contracts Policies and Procedures
- Develop and maintain skill-set for advising Sales, Project Managers, Finance and others on current contracts trends
- Help with ongoing training of Sales, Project Management and others in contracts/commercial issues (policies, processes, model forms and specialist and general topics)
- Accept/acknowledge customer Purchase Orders in accordance with established policies and processes
- Maintain library of agreed terms and conditions and customer purchasing agreements
- Maintain current division data on applicable division and corporate databases (e.g., purchasing agreements, agreed terms and conditions, confidentiality agreements, nuclear indemnities, etc.)
- Other tasks as required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required to work with staff from junior to executive levels, within Emerson and customer companies.
