Brief Description of Duties / Minimum Requirements: This position is located in Austin, Texas. Approximately 25 -35% Travel; typical destinations include Houston, Texas, St. Louis Missouri, Atlanta, Georgia, and associated rural plant locations.
FlexConnect is a cable only or cable and interface to connect legacy DCS termination panels to DeltaV. FlexConnect solutions exist for Moore APACS, Bailey INFI 90, Rosemount RS3, Fisher PROVOX, Honeywell TDC 2000 and 3000, GSE D3 and Yokogawa. FlexConnect allows the field wiring to stay connected to the termination panels reducing plant downtime by 75% or more.
The successful candidate must:
- Demonstrate good knowledge of the process automation industry, and the various hardware / software products and services
- Have good people skills (presentation, verbal and written) for meetings, documentation, solution implementation and troubleshooting with LBPs and customers during the proposal phase
- Understand field wiring and analog / discrete field devices
- Understanding of and experience with instrumentation signal wiring and signal conditioning for DCS terminations, PLC terminations and marshalling systems
- Have understanding and experience with power and grounding systems relating to signal/instrumentation wiring, DCS and PLC installation, and trouble shooting of installations
- Be able to read and understand schematics of termination panels, use of jumpers, dip switches and dip shunts
- Interface with customers and help them identify their FlexConnect solution
- Perform plant survey to gather information required for FlexConnect quotation
- Identify change orders and justify changes
- Be able to organize work tasks and plan time
- Maintain effectiveness in varying environments with different tasks, responsibilities, and people
- Develop new FlexConnect solutions
The following would be pluses/advantages to a candidate:
- Have a thorough understanding of DeltaV IO cards, input/output parameters, current limiting and off state leakage.
- Able to operate DeltaV Explorer, Diagnostics and Autocon.
- Understand Intrinsic Safety, isolation and zener barriers. Able to perform calculations to determine if barriers are suitable for use with DeltaV IO cards
- Be able to understand I/O capabilities of legacy DCS systems
