MARSHALLTOWN IOWA (January
12, 2006). Emerson
Process Management today announced it has surpassed sales of
one-half-million Fisher® FIELDVUE® digital valve controllers, leading
the smart positioner market worldwide.
More than two dozen patents have been awarded for this product line
to date, and sales of FIELDVUE instruments exceed the total combined sales
of several Emerson competitors in this market.
Introduced in 1994, the
microprocessor-based FIELDVUE instruments enable users to monitor valve
performance on-line, to collect and trend performance data over time, and
to better predict or plan valve maintenance. The innovative FIELDVUE
instruments are a key component that powers Emerson Process Management’s
PlantWeb® digital plant architecture to proven savings of more than 30
percent of project costs, and greater than 2 percent operations savings,
including benefits of predictive valve maintenance.
“FIELDVUE digital valve controllers have changed the way
process control industry personnel operate and maintain their
equipment,” commented Bruce Johnson, vice president of instruments
within Emerson’s Fisher valve division. “FIELDVUE-patented
diagnostic capabilities are used to pinpoint performance problems while
the valves are controlling, and the plant is running. Users don’t have
to service all of their control valves; instead, they can identify
and service only the valves that need attention.”
“Improved plant performance results from better control and
monitoring, provided through FIELDVUE instruments,” continued Johnson.
”The value of FIELDVUE instruments is reflected in the amount
users save on maintenance--avoiding unplanned shutdowns, extending the
time between shutdowns, and operating plants at more reliable and
productive levels.”
The FIELDVUE instrument line provides a choice of
capabilities to meet a variety of end-user requirements. Users may select
from HART® or FOUNDATION™ fieldbus communication protocols, as well as
options that enable partial-stroke valve testing in safety instrumented
systems (SIS). Other product enhancements include stainless-steel
constructions, remote mounting configurations, or extreme-temperature
options.
