Monograph Includes Latest Information Regarding Nace Requirements For Sour Gas And Oil Environments

MARSHALLTOWN, IA, January, 2000 . . . . . Fisher Controls International LLC has revised its technical monograph dealing with sulfide stress cracking and NACE requirements. As number 34 in the popular series of monographs related to process control and control valves, this edition includes information on the latest changes to the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) Standard MR0175. For example, new information covers the impact of the standard on cast 17-4 valve trim parts as well as several new duplex stainless steels.tm34.gif (15372 bytes)

Entitled, "Sulfide Stress Cracking and the Commercial Application of NACE MR0175," the monograph opens with discussion of the NACE standard which specifies the proper materials, heat treat conditions and strength levels required to provide good service life in sour gas and oil environments.

It then presents the basics of sulfide stress cracking, such as why the phenomenon occurs and where. Typical construction materials are reviewed with regard to applicability under the MR0175 guidelines. The monograph investigates how a manufacturer can establish an in-house certification system that, upfront, yields a product that’s certifiable to MR0175, without the necessity of costly after-manufacture testing. The monograph closes with a helpful table that cross-references UNS numbers with common material designations and tradenames.

The monograph (reference TM-34) is available, free of charge, from Fisher Controls International LLC through its worldwide sales representative and sales office locations.
