Marshalltown, IOWA (November 13, 2008) — Emerson Process Management announces Canadian Standards Association (CSA) electrical certification for the Fisher® LCP100 local control panel, meeting approval for Ex em IIC T4 with IP66 rating. The LCP100 has also been certified by independent safety company Exida as non-interfering to the safety function in a SIL 3 safety loop with a Fisher FIELDVUE® DVC6000 SIS instrument.

The LCP100 performs local functions using a push button to open the valve, close the valve, and test the valve and also provides green, red and amber annunciation lights. In conventional local control panels, these commands are executed by a logic solver that is connected by hard wired signals to a field mounted panel. The DVC6000 SIS, in conjunction with the LCP100, not only reduces the number of hardwired I/Os, but also provides less maintenance and ease of operations.

With the advancement of the FIELDVUE digital valve controller for safety applications, the intelligence of the digital valve controller is used by the LCP100 to initiate a partial stroke test and indicate valve operation.

Emerson's smart SIS safety management solution is an extension of its PlantWeb® digital plant architecture, providing an integrated approach to complete safety loops — from sensor to logic solver to final control element. The Emerson SIS solution enables customers to implement safer facilities, improve availability, lower life-cycle costs, and ease regulatory compliance. The smart SIS system components include Rosemount® and Micro Motion® certified and proven-in-use devices, the DeltaV SIS system, SIL-PAC final control solution with Fisher FIELDVUE DVC6000 SIS controllers, and the AMS® Suite predictive maintenance software.
